MINOT, N.D. (KFGO) – A Minot man is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly beat a Minot woman, threatened to break her bones and tried to force her to swallow pills.
Minot Police say they were called to the area Sunday morning when the woman had entered a neighbors home and said she was attacked by Melvin Cullers, 52.
The victim told police that over a period of around 12 hours, Cullers blocked her from leaving the home they were living in, threatened her with a knife and beat her repeatedly with a table leg, liquor bottles and his hands.
Cullers allegedly told the woman he was going to break her hands, legs and jaw. Court documents say that the woman tried to leave the home multiple times, but Cullers would block the door or pull her back into the home from the window and hit her.
He also reportedly shoved Adderall and Xanax pills in the woman’s mouth and tried to make her swallow them. The woman escaped from Cullers when he allegedly tried bringing her out to the garage.
Along with attempted murder, Cullers is facing charges of terrorizing, felony restraint and domestic violence.
