BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Department of Transportation says more than 5,400 tickets were issued during a speeding enforcement campaign this summer.
The statewide ‘Speeding Slows You Down’ campaign lasted from July 1st to August 9th. Of the citations, around 4,900 were issued for speeding. Other citations were issued for not wearing seatbelts and distracted driving.
Six drug arrests and five DUI arrests were also made.
The department of transportation says speed is a contributing factor to 29 percent of fatal crashes in the state.
