WASHINGTON (KFGO) – North Dakota Senator John Hoeven and legendary Bison football coach Craig Bohl continue to push for the Protect College Sports Act.
They say it would improve fairness and stability in college athletics by preventing deceptive practices by agents or schools, protect students’ name, image, and likeness rights, ensure pro athletes can’t compete in college sports and preserve support for women’s and Olympic sports.
Bohl is the executive director of the American Football Coaches Association.
“Our encouragement is let’s buckle those chin straps up, let’s get our hands in the dirt, let’s come across the goal line and get this bill to the president,” Bohl said.
Hoeven wants the bill to be voted on in the senate this week.
“We have a patchwork of court cases and state laws that have created the wild west for college sports. It’s not time to act. It’s way past time to act,” Hoeven said.
