Tim Curry died from coronary artery disease, newly released public health records confirm. The actor and singer died on August 25, 2026, at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles. He was 80.
Documents from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health also listed a history of stroke and kidney cancer as significant conditions that contributed to his death. Neither condition was identified as the underlying cause. The records also indicated that Curry had not undergone surgery for those health issues.
Curry suffered a major stroke in 2012 that affected his mobility and eventually required him to use a wheelchair. Even as he reduced his on-screen appearances, he continued working in voice roles and remained connected with fans.
His career stretched across film, television and theater. Curry became widely known for playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and later appeared in Clue, Annie, It and Muppet Treasure Island.
His distinctive performances made him a familiar figure across several generations of entertainment.
