Harry Styles gave fans an unexpected Taylor Swift reference during his August 29 performance at Madison Square Garden in New York.
While speaking to the crowd during the third night of his 30-show residency, Styles mentioned the arena’s long connection to the New York Knicks before adding that the venue also hosts weddings. The audience quickly reacted to the comment, which appeared to reference Swift and Travis Kelce’s July wedding at Madison Square Garden.
The moment also drew attention because Styles and Swift briefly dated more than a decade ago. Their relationship, which lasted from late 2012 into early 2013, has remained part of pop culture history as both artists went on to major solo careers.
Styles is currently performing an extended run at Madison Square Garden as part of his Together, Together tour. The residency gives the singer multiple nights at one of New York’s best-known venues, with the wedding joke becoming one of the more talked-about moments from the early shows.
