Aug 26 (Field Level Media) – The PGA Tour unveiled its 2027 schedule Wednesday. It features significant changes to the beginning and ending stretches of the 33-event regular-season slate leading into the FedEx Cup playoffs.
The tour, which typically begins with two events in Hawaii, will not hold a tournament in the state for the first time in 56 years. The season will instead begin with The American Express in La Quinta, Calif., on Jan. 21.
After a stop at Torrey Pines for the event now sponsored by Sentry, the West Coast swing will go to Pebble Beach before the WM Phoenix Open, with the tournaments again swapping weekends with the final round in Phoenix aligned with Super Bowl Sunday.
The Florida swing is also undergoing multiple changes. The Cadillac Championship is moving from May to March, ahead of The Players Championship. The Valspar Championship is also moving to May, with The Arnold Palmer Invitational sliding into its mid-March slot.
The Sompo Championship in Napa, Calif., takes the place of the Rocket Classic, which ended its eight-year run in Detroit last month. That will be followed by the regular-season finale in Greensboro, N.C., with Raymond James taking over as the primary sponsor from Wyndham.
Next year’s FedEx Cup Playoffs will serve as the final one in the current three-event format. Following the new 90-player Championship Series Finale in 2028 will be a two-event match-play competition featuring 32 players.
