(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were looking for a series sweep over the Lincoln Saltdogs before hitting the road for a six-game road trip Friday. The Hawks were also looking for their fourth straight win tonight.
In the bottom of the 3rd, in a scoreless game, Dillon Thomas would bat with two on two out. On a 3-0 pitch from Lincoln starting pitcher, Graham Edwards, Thomas would crush a three-run home run to right field to give Fargo-Moorhead a 3-0 lead. Later in the inning, Jairus Richards, and Brian Fuentes would each hit an RBI single to make it 5-0.
Griffin Everitt would get Lincoln on the board with an RBI single off of RedHawks starter Kyle Crigger in the top of the 5th. Cam Phelts would drive in a run on an RBI groundout in the next at-bat to cut the lead to 5-2.
Cary Arbolida would also get an RBI off of a groundout to make it a 5-3 game in the top of the 6th. In the bottom of the 6th, Fargo-Moorhead would respond, as they scored a run on a bases-loaded walk by Jose Sermo.
The RedHawks would lead 6-3 until the top of the 8th inning. Cary Arbolida would hit an RBI single, Connor Bagnieski hit an RBI double, and Jack Dragum would tie the game at six on an RBI single.
The game would go to extra innings, where in the top of the 10th, Cary Arbolida would give Lincoln their first lead of the game on a go-ahead RBI single to make it 7-6 Saltdogs, which would also be the final score of the series finale.
The RedHawks are now 17-19 on the year after the loss tonight, but they still come away with the series win. They’ll play the Saltdogs again for a three-game series beginning on June 29th, which is part of a six-game road trip for Fargo-Moorhead. After a day off tomorrow, the road trip for the RedHawks begins Friday in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where they will start a three-game weekend series against the Goldeyes.
