HORACE, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) – A Horace couple is asking their neighbors to sign a petition that would shorten the city’s ordinance on how long fireworks can be used. Horace’s current fireworks ordinance allows them to be shot off for 10 days.
The petition requests that the ordinance be reduced to 3 days from July 3 through 5.
Alan Turnmire says they’ve heard some pushback on the petition, but says it’s a wide ranging issue and the goal is to protect senior citizens, pets and others.
The couple is aiming to have up to 600 signatures by the end of July. So far they have received more than 100.
