JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – A 30-year-old Jamestown man is jailed after a high-speed chase in Jamestown and rural Stutsman County Thursday afternoon.
Jamestown Police say an officer tried to stop a motorcycle in Jamestown, but the driver took off at speeds near 100 miles an hour. The chase continued through the city and onto westbound Interstate 94 where speeds increased to as high as 115 miles an hour.
The driver of the motorcycle, later identified as Auston Peterson, exited the Interstate about 20 miles west of Jamestown. He continued north before crashing just north of Windsor.
Peterson was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center before being booked into the Stutsman County jail. He is facing charges of fleeing, DUI, driving under suspension, and carrying a concealed weapon. Police say other charges are possible.
The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, Stutsman County Drug Task Force, and Highway Patrol assisted Jamestown Police.
