(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo Force and Sioux Falls Stampede faced off for Game 5 in Sioux Falls Tuesday night. With the series tied at two games a piece, the winner of this game would move on to the Clark Cup Championship series against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Axel Lofgren of the Force would score at 12:20 in the first period to make it 1-0 Fargo Force. Logan Renkowski of the Sioux Falls Stampede would tie the game at 2:52 in the second period with a powerplay goal. The Fargo Force would retake the lead 2-1 when Graham Jones scored during a powerplay at 11:49. The Force would hold the lead until 18:58 in the second period when Logan Renkowski scored his second goal of the game tying it at 2-2.
The game would remain tied until Joey Macrina of the Stampede scored at 17:42 in the third period. Down a goal and only 2:18 left to play, the Force would empty the net hoping to push the game into overtime. With only 35 seconds left in the game, Logan Renkowski looked like he had a hat-trick with an empty net goal against the Force. After review, the goal was overturned due to an off sides call. The Stampede would go on to win the game 3-2 and advance to the Clark Cup Championship.
The Sioux Falls Stampede will advance to the Clark Cup Championship series for the first time since 2019. They will face the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the Eastern Conference on Friday night in Sioux Falls.
