(KNFL/KFGO) – 1,285 Fargo-Moorhead Fans would brave the cold to watch two of their favorite teams play in an exhibition game between the FM RedHawks and the NDSU Bison at Newman Outdoor Field Wednesday night. It was 44 degrees when Kyle Crigger threw the first pitch at 6:05pm. The game would remain scoreless until the top of the 3rd inning when NDSU’s Kyle Law was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded making it 1-0 NDSU. Bison’s Chase Womack would follow with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. In the top of the 5th inning it was still 2-0 when Colten Becker hit a RBI triple to give NDSU a 3-0 lead. Chase Womack would also have an RBI in the top of the 5th to extend NDSU’s lead to 4-0. The RedHawks would surrender 1 more run in the top of the 6th with a bases loaded walk to Colten Becker. Becker would reach base five times on the night with two hits and two runs batted in. The NDSU Bison pitching staff would limit the RedHawks to 3 hits in the shutout. Along with the pitching and hitting, NDSU also showcased their defense. In the 3rd inning, RedHawks’ Tripp Clark hit a deep fly ball to Bison Outfielder Tyman Long who reached up and caught it at the wall robbing a potential homerun.
The Bison would score 5 runs off 8 hits with 0 errors. The RedHawks would score 0 runs off 3 hits with 0 errors.
The FM RedHawks now travel to Kansas City for two more exhibition games against the Monarchs on Monday and Tuesday before heading to Cleburne, TX on Thursday May 14th to face the Cleburne Railroaders.
