Hilary Duff spoke to more than 5,000 Northeastern University graduates during the school’s 2026 commencement ceremony at Fenway Park.
In her address, Duff discussed her career in entertainment, including her early start as a child actor and singer. She spoke about growing up in public and learning how to make decisions that reflected her own goals.
Duff encouraged graduates to think beyond professional success and focus on building a full life. She told students that careers can change over time, but personal values and identity remain important guides.
The ceremony brought together graduates, families, faculty, and university leaders at the Boston ballpark. Duff’s remarks focused on choice, self-direction, and the importance of knowing when to accept or decline opportunities.
She also spoke about the pressure that can come with public expectations and major life transitions. Her message to graduates centered on staying grounded while entering the next stage of life after college.
