MANKATO, Minn. – A 19-year-old Mankato woman is accused of driving more than 85 mph when she rear-ended a stopped van in a construction zone, killing a couple last July.
Alyssa Odens is charged in Blue Earth County District Court with criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation. It was the third speeding-related violation for Odens in less than a year.
Charles and Ladonna Mikkelson, who were married more than 50 years, died in the crash. Investigators say Odens denied that she was distracted at the time of the collision.
