Disney is creating a live-action movie focusing on Beauty and the Beast villain Gaston in early development stages. The arrogant hunter character first appeared in Disney’s 1992 animated film as Belle’s unwanted suitor and the Beast’s main enemy. Luke Evans portrayed Gaston in the previous live-action Beauty and the Beast remake. Sources indicate this new version will feature a completely different actor and story with “swashbuckling” elements. A planned television series starring Evans was previously canceled. Producer Michelle Rejwan previously worked on Star Wars films including Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker while writer Dave Callaham’s credits include Godzilla x Kong, Shang-Chi and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
