Keith Castillo, a 29-year-old influencer known as “povwolfy,” has drawn widespread criticism for videos showing him giving 18-inch machetes and alcohol to homeless people in Austin, New Orleans, and Little Rock. The TikTok and Instagram clips, posted on Thanksgiving and in November, gained millions of views. Castillo purchased the stainless-steel machetes in bulk for under $5 each and claims his actions help “keep homeless people safe.” He told the New York Post he consulted police and was told he broke no laws. Retired NYPD Sergeant Joseph Giacalone called the weapon-alcohol combination “a cocktail for disaster.” Castillo carries about 30 machetes in his car and plans to continue the stunt in Las Vegas, Los Angeles’ Skid Row, and New York City in January.
