Vince Shlomi, the infomercial spokesman famous for selling ShamWow towels, has filed to run for Congress in Texas. He’s challenging 84-year-old Republican Rep. John Carter, who has served over 20 years and announced his re-election bid this month. According to state Republican Party filings, Shlomi aims to “destroy wokeism” in Congress and told Fox News he wants to “make America happy” after being motivated by “political infighting in the country.” Shlomi was arrested in 2009 for aggravated battery following a fight, though prosecutors dropped charges. He told NBC News in 2013 he takes “full responsibility” for his actions and said “People understand you make mistakes in life. Hopefully I won’t make another mistake.” While listed on the state party website before December’s filing deadline, Shlomi hasn’t filed with the Federal Election Commission yet. Texas primaries occur in March. (Story URL)
