Tallahassee police arrested 38-year-old Joshua Hidalgo on Monday morning after he allegedly stole a forklift from a local school and used it to carry away an ATM during an early dawn ride through residential neighborhoods. Officers responded to reports of heavy machinery moving through city streets and found Hidalgo operating the forklift with the stolen ATM attached. When an officer approached asking “What’s up, bro? What y’all got going on?” Hidalgo pointed to the machine saying “I dropped this thing over here” before fleeing on foot. Police quickly apprehended him after a brief chase. Surveillance footage captured the ATM theft from a business parking lot. Officers recovered clothing and burglary tools believed connected to the incident. Hidalgo faces charges including grand theft, trespassing on school grounds, and possession of burglary tools with intent to use. (Story URL)
