Thieves carried out a bold daytime robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday, stealing priceless Napoleonic jewels within minutes. Officials said the group used a basket lift to reach a window on the Seine-facing side, forced entry, and smashed two display cases in what Culture Minister Rachida Dati described as a “four-minute operation.” The theft took place in the Apollon Gallery, just 250 meters from the Mona Lisa, and targeted France’s royal collection. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said the suspects fled on scooters. Among the stolen items were two imperial crowns, including one belonging to Empress Eugénie.
