A survey of 2,000 Americans living with partners, roommates or family members found 58% have argued over recurring smells in shared spaces. Common odor sources include trash, post-gym stink, pet smells, and hobby-related fumes. Forty-one percent of people in relationships directly confronted partners about stinky habits involving workout gear, pets, sports equipment and gardening materials. Rather than address issues directly, 59% secretly dealt with odors by opening windows or using air fresheners. Nearly half (48%) avoided certain rooms due to smell problems, with bathrooms, pet areas and living rooms most commonly avoided. Fifty-two percent considered secretly replacing items like rugs and curtains to eliminate persistent odors. (Story URL)
