Researchers at the University Of Belgrade have discovered connections between disliking animals and dark personality characteristics. The study involving 369 participants found higher psychopathy and sadism levels correlate with speciesism—believing humans are morally superior to animals. Dr. Marija Branković told PsyPost, “We found that the so-called Dark Tetrad traits, in particular psychopathy and sadism, are related to higher speciesism – support for animal exploitation.” Researchers note, “Violence toward animals has been related to domestic violence and murder,” suggesting animal attitudes could help assess antisocial tendencies.
