Adults spend an average of two and a half hours daily operating on autopilot, according to research of 2,000 people. The study reveals people perform routine tasks with minimal conscious awareness, including commuting, preparing meals, and getting dressed. Twenty-three percent enter autopilot mode while grocery shopping, with 22% doing so when cooking or completing housework. This automatic behavior causes 35% to worry that life is passing them by, while 68% want to create more memorable experiences. Twenty percent feel disconnected from daily life, with 70% seeking to feel more “present, alive, and joyful.” (Story URL)
