The Grand Ole Opry has announced a special tribute to Charley Pride as part of its Opry 100 celebration, recognizing the legendary singer’s lasting influence on country music. The event is scheduled for September 22 and will bring together several artists to celebrate his life and career.
The announcement says Darius Rucker, Pam Tillis, Neal McCoy and Dion Pride are set to perform during the evening, with additional guests expected to be revealed later. The celebration will highlight Pride’s decades of contributions to the genre and his historic place in the Grand Ole Opry.
Charley Pride became one of country music’s most successful artists, earning multiple No. 1 hits and becoming a Grand Ole Opry member in 1993. His career also helped open doors for greater representation within country music, making his achievements significant both on and off the stage.
Dion Pride shared that the family is grateful for the recognition and looks forward to celebrating his father’s legacy with fans and fellow artists. The Grand Ole Opry also announced that a portion of ticket sales from the event will support the Opry Trust Fund, which provides assistance to members of the country music community during times of need.
