Director James Cameron has achieved billionaire status with a net worth of $1.1 billion, Forbes reported days before Avatar: Fire and Ash hits theaters December 19th. Cameron joins an elite group of filmmaker billionaires including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Tyler Perry. His movies have earned nearly $9 billion globally, with the original Avatar becoming the highest-grossing film ever at $2.9 billion and Avatar: The Way of Water ranking third at $2.3 billion. Forbes estimates Cameron will earn at least $200 million from the upcoming sequel if it meets box office expectations. When studios questioned adding more Avatar films, Cameron responded: “What part of you getting another chance to make $2 billion is in question here?” The third Avatar installment opens from 20th Century Studios and Disney.
