Gay and queer men can identify a potential partner’s intentions within 43 minutes of meeting, new research shows. A Talker Research survey of 1,000 gay and queer men found respondents now seek serious relationships twice as often as hook-ups, at 48% versus 21%. Nearly half shifted their dating goals in the past year, prioritizing long-term compatibility over casual encounters. When goals don’t align, 45% prefer honest conversations rather than ending dates early. “For too long, gay and queer men have been defined by stereotypes instead of by our full, complex selves,” said Michael Kaye, Head of Brand Marketing at ARCHER, which commissioned the study. The survey found 79% believe it’s time to redefine dating norms, with emotional connection and humor ranking as bigger attractions than physical or sexual compatibility. (Story URL)
