Dua Lipa closed her Radical Optimism Tour with an emotional tribute to the late Queen of Tejano music, Selena Quintanilla, performing her 7x-platinum 1994 hit, “Amor Prohibido,” at Mexico City’s GNP Seguros Stadium on Friday night (December 5). Addressing the crowd of 65,000, Lipa expressed a deep bond with Selena through their shared dual nationality – hers Albanian-English, Selena’s Mexican-American – with the singer proclaiming, “I chose this song because I feel a very special connection with this artist and with her feeling of belonging to two places at the same time.” Over three sold-out shows in Mexico, Lipa also surprised fans with a cover of the beloved Latin classic, “Bésame Mucho” by Consuelo Velázquez, while also singing a duet with Fher Olvera from Maná on the band’s hit, “Oye Mi Amor,” highlighting the profound bond she built with fans and local artists throughout her 92-date world tour.
