James Wan (The Conjuring, Saw) will produce a new Paranormal Activity movie for Paramount Pictures alongside original creator Oren Peli and Jason Blum. The franchise began with Peli’s 2007 found-footage horror film made for $15,000 that earned $194.2 million worldwide. “I’ve been a huge admirer of Paranormal Activity since the brilliant first movie, with its creeping slow burn and subtle ability to make the unseen terrifying,” Wan said. Blum noted they can “spend a little more than the $15,000 we had on the first movie, but one thing will remain the same — do not see it alone.” The series has produced seven films total, with the most recent being Next of Kin in 2021.
