A raccoon broke into a Virginia ABC Store in Ashland and was discovered unconscious in the bathroom after damaging merchandise throughout the location. Hanover County Animal Protection Officer Martin responded to the incident and found the animal asleep near the toilet. Photos show broken bottles and spilled alcohol covering the store floor from the raccoon’s rampage. “Officer Martin safely secured our masked bandit and transported him back to the shelter to sober up before questioning,” Hanover Animal Protection said. The raccoon was released back into the wild after several hours of rest, showing no injuries. Officials praised Officer Martin’s handling of the unusual situation. “A big shout-out to Officer Martin for handling this chaotic scene with professionalism and good humor. Just another day in the life at Hanover Animal Protection!” the shelter stated. (Story URL)
