Campbell’s terminated Vice President Martin Bally after security analyst Robert Garza secretly recorded a 75-minute profanity-filled tirade during a salary meeting. In the recording, Bally allegedly called Campbell’s products “highly processed” food for “poor people” and mocked ingredients, saying “Bioengineered meat—I don’t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3-D printer.” Bally reportedly admitted showing up to work high on marijuana edibles and repeatedly called Indian employees “idiots,” claiming they “couldn’t think for their [expletive] selves.” Garza, who started working remotely for Campbell’s Camden headquarters in 2024, brought the recording to supervisor J.D. Aupperle in January 2025. Twenty days later, Garza was fired despite positive performance feedback. He filed a lawsuit in Wayne County Circuit Court alleging retaliation and racial hostility.
