Walking Dead mastermind Greg Nicotero has created a new horror reality competition series called Guts and Glory, now streaming on Shudder. The show combines elements from Survivor with The Blair Witch Project, placing contestants in wilderness settings where they face elimination by a demonic entity rather than traditional voting. Nicotero serves as both creator and host, using his special effects expertise to stage graphic “deaths” that appear real to participants. Contestants were given minimal information before filming, with Nicotero telling The Hollywood Reporter “they got on a plane, and had no idea what was coming.” The series required eight cameras running simultaneously to capture live reactions to horror effects.
