Kashif Grant (Cass County Jail)
FARGO (KFGO) — A man is in the Cass County Jail after a man said he was going to rob a downtown Fargo bank.
Fargo Police responded to Wells Fargo at 406 Main Avenue just before 2:30 p.m. Monday for a reported bank robbery. The caller told police a man walked into the bank, told a teller he was robbing it and asked for $50,000.
Captain Matt Christensen says officers responded as if the bank was being robbed, but quickly determined there was no threat. The man, 36-year-old Kashif Grant with no permanent address, was quickly arrested. Police say he did not have a weapon, and did not make any threats or try to hurt anyone.
Grant is being held for felony attempted theft.
In 2023, Grant was arrested in a similar case. Police then said he went into a bank in south Fargo, told the teller he was robbing it and asked for $1,000, then went and sat in the lobby until police arrived. He was sentenced to 107 days in jail.
