Erik Thomas Pancake, 38, faces felony battery charges after allegedly attacking his 72-year-old father during a family dispute Tuesday evening at their Palm City home. Police say Pancake struck his father “on the face and body,” causing “severe bruises and swelling to his eyes and face” consistent with multiple blows. Officers found Pancake living with his parents at the residence owned by his father and 66-year-old stepmother. When questioned, Pancake “appeared intoxicated and belligerent” and told police he “pleads the 5th,” according to court documents, though he voluntarily placed his hands behind his back for arrest. Pancake was booked into Martin County jail on charges of battery on a victim over age 65, a felony offense. He posted $5,000 bond and was released Wednesday. (Story URL)
