MONTEVIDEO, Minn. (KFGO) — A Montevideo, Minnesota bus driver has been suspended after a profanity-filled rant to a bus full of children.
An audio recording of the incident circulated on social media. In it, the bus driver can be heard yelling at students, telling them to pick up after themselves.
“If I find sh*t on this floor this morning, I’m gonna get every one of your asses this afternoon, and you’re going to stay with me… and this bus is gonna get cleaned,” the bus driver said in the recording. “If your parents say a damned thing to me, I’ll make them clean this bus.”
Later in the recording, the bus driver can be heard telling students that not picking up after themselves shows they have no self respect.
“When I see this bus is a mess, that means you don’t even like yourselves. And you should like yourselves. You’re special. You’re one-of-a-kind. Take care of your surroundings like that means something to you. Every one of you is meaningful. Act like it.”
4.0 School Services, the company contracted to provide bussing services for Montevideo Schools, says the driver’s actions do not align with their values.
Many parents expressed their support for the driver, saying he should not have used profanity but that he was understandably upset. They say the students on the bus and their parents should be held accountable, and the bus driver was trying to keep the students safe by not allowing them to throw items while he was driving.
