Aurora the husky required rescue by Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control after chasing a squirrel up a tree in her Indiana backyard and becoming stranded on a branch. The dog’s owners called police for help when Aurora realized how high she was and could not climb down independently. “Our dispatch team was quite surprised when they heard a dog was stuck in a tree. That is something we do not hear frequently, if ever,” Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control said in a Facebook post. Two officers responded to the unusual call, with one using a catch pole to guide Aurora down safely while offering encouragement. During the rescue video, an officer asked “Do you want to come down?” while Aurora’s owner said “Was the squirrel worth it, young lady?” The canine was successfully returned to ground level and reunited with her relieved family.
