Animal rescuers in Suffolk County, New York successfully freed a kitten trapped in a storm drain pipe using an innovative remote-controlled car method. The Strong Island Animal Rescue League responded Tuesday night to a call from Suffolk police about the stranded kitten in Manorville. Rescuer Frankie Floridia could not fit through the narrow pipe connecting two storm drains. The team deployed a remote-controlled car into one end of the pipe to push the kitten safely out the other side. “Worked perfectly,” the Strong Island Animal Rescue League reported on social media, though the RC car sustained water damage during the operation.
