Twenty-two-year-old Keona Zachyua Hampton shot and killed 41-year-old Cecilia Simpson outside a Dallas PetSmart on Tuesday after an argument that began when Simpson held a door open for Hampton at a Five Below store. According to police affidavits, Simpson became upset when Hampton didn’t say thank you. The dispute continued as both women went to PetSmart, where employees asked them to leave after multiple confrontations. In the parking lot, Hampton threw a drink bottle at Simpson’s car, leading to a physical fight. Simpson’s 20-year-old daughter witnessed Hampton pull out a black and silver handgun and fire three shots at her mother. “I was just trying to get Simpson away from me,” Hampton told police after her arrest.
