A new survey of 2,000 U.S. homeowners reveals the average person waits almost 30 years before using special occasion items. The study found 79% own items reserved for special occasions, with 69% keeping fragile dishes and glassware stored away. Sixty-four percent have never touched these special items, while 54% say the right moment hasn’t arrived yet. Fear drives the behavior: 48% worry about damage and 45% find the items impractical for daily use. Despite this, 68% wish they could live every day like a special occasion, and 58% would use their fine items daily if practical. Holiday gatherings top the list of when people break out their best dishes at 70%, followed by anniversaries at 65%. (Story URL)
