Gail Marie Stephenson, 57, was arrested in Key West after threatening residents with a revolver while searching for her allegedly stolen phone, which police found in her SUV. Officers responded following reports of an armed woman in a white Ford Explorer. Stephenson told police she had given “a younger gentleman” a ride home from the American Legion Hall and believed he stole her phone. When officers asked her to check her vehicle, they discovered the phone on the driver’s side floorboard. Multiple neighbors reported Stephenson “banging on people’s homes and threatening those residences, stating she had been robbed.” One 52-year-old man said she pointed a revolver at his chest. Police recovered the loaded weapon in a purple Crown Royal bag behind a trash can. Stephenson faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed trespassing, and evidence tampering charges.
