GRAND FORKS, N.D. – (KFGO) – Belgium-based potato processing company Agristo has officially begun the initial groundwork for its facility in Grand Forks, with company officials saying construction is underway.
Agristo is anticipating the facility will be fully operational by 2028. Once complete, the facility will process thousands of tons of potatoes each year into French fries, hashbrowns, and other frozen specialty items.
Based on current calculations, the company says it will need an estimated 20-23,000 acres acres of irrigated and non-irrigated potatoes each year for the facility.
An official ground-breaking ceremony is being planned for April 2026.
