A Michigan couple welcomed their fourth child in a McDonald’s parking lot on August 11th, leading them to nickname the baby “McTilly.” Alyce and Kevin Rotunda were racing to a hospital 45 minutes away when they realized they wouldn’t arrive in time. Kevin called 911 while driving up to 100 mph on empty highway stretches. After pulling into the McDonald’s lot, Alyce exited their minivan as a police officer arrived. “There was no way I could do anything other than stand there or squat,” Alyce told Today. She felt the baby’s head emerge and called for Kevin to catch the newborn, which he did successfully. Paramedics arrived 10 minutes later and transported the family to the hospital, where the 7-pound, 14-ounce baby was confirmed healthy. Originally planning to name her “Tilly,” the family adapted to “McTilly.” “Everyone gets a kick out of it,” Alyce said. (Newser)
