Australian basketball player Ben Griscti sustained a fractured vertebrae after a backboard collapsed on him during a practice game. The 23-year-old Adelaide 36ers player was struck when the hoop’s backboard fell following a teammate’s dunk at the Australian Institute of Sport Arena in Canberra. Griscti waited over 90 minutes for an ambulance to transport him the 5-minute drive to the hospital. Despite the serious injury, Griscti will not require surgery and is recovering at home. The Australian Basketball League and arena operator stated they are investigating the incident and offering support to the injured player. (Story URL)
