A Kansas family’s nightmare became reality when a child’s report of a “monster” under the bed led to the discovery of a man hiding there. According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, a babysitter was preparing the children for bed when one complained about the presence of an intruder. When the babysitter investigated, she encountered a 27-year-old male suspect who had previously lived at the residence, despite being under a protective order to stay away. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended after a brief pursuit. He now faces charges including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, and violation of the protective order. The man is being held on a $500,000 bond as the investigation continues. (NPR)
