A recent survey of 246 U.S. film industry executives found that over 55% believe the “traditional cinema experience” has less than 20 years left as a viable business model. Exhibitors were more optimistic than sales and distribution executives, with over 60% of the latter predicting less than 20 years for the traditional model. The survey also found that 90% of U.S. exhibition executives have not recovered to pre-COVID revenue levels, and 81% want at least a 6-week exclusive theatrical window, while 77% see day-and-date streaming as negatively impacting the theatrical model.
