Jerome Stepp, a Family Dollar employee, was arrested for shooting a man in the buttocks, suspected of stealing merchandise from the store. The incident took place on the near west side of Indianapolis, with police responding to a theft in progress at the Family Dollar location on W Michigan St. Shortly after the theft, gunshots were heard at an intersection where the victim was found injured. Witnesses provided descriptions of the shooter and their vehicle, leading officers back to the store where Stepp and another employee, his fiancée, were identified. Stepp allegedly fired warning shots to recover the stolen merchandise, resulting in the thief dropping it and being hit by a second shot. (Fox59)
