On Tuesday, a bison attacked a 30-year-old visitor in Yellowstone National Park’s Old Faithful area, leaving the man with minor injuries. According to a park statement, the incident occurred around 9:45am local time after a large group of visitors approached the animal too closely. The victim, a resident of Randolph, New Jersey, was treated for his wounds. Park officials did not release his name or condition, citing an ongoing investigation. This was the second such attack in Yellowstone this spring – on May 7th, a 47-year-old man from Florida sustained minor injuries from a bison goring. Bison are the animals responsible for the most visitor injuries in Yellowstone. Capable of running at speeds up to 35mph, these massive herbivores can weigh up to 2,000 pounds.
