The saying “playing the world’s smallest violin” is usually a sarcastic way to mock pity someone. However, The Loughborough University set out to actually create an extremely tiny violin that is only 35 microns long and 13 microns wide. A micron is one millionth of a meter, which means this violin is smaller than the diameter of a human hair! The Physics Department set out to accomplish this cheeky task to test out their new nanolithography system. (UPI)
