A 15-year-old in California got stuck in an abandoned well shaft while attempting to save their family dogs. Emergency responders from the Nevada County Consolidated Fire Rescue were called to the scene and successfully rescued the teen and the two dogs. The teen had descended about 15-20 feet into the shaft to help the pets but was unable to climb back out. A vertical rope rescue operation was conducted, lasting approximately an hour, resulting in all three individuals being brought to the surface without serious injuries. The teen was evaluated and found unharmed, while the dogs were treated for minor dehydration. The fire department emphasized the importance of avoiding unsafe structures and prompt reporting of emergencies. (People)
