The highly anticipated Detroit Tigers-San Francisco Giants matchup at Comerica Park took an unexpected turn when a squirrel darted onto the field at the start of the game. The unexpected visitor quickly captured the attention of the FanDuel Sports Network announcers, Jason Benetti and Andy Dirks. “Squirrel! Squirrel!” Benetti exclaimed, momentarily straying from the game’s focus. The squirrel scurried past a bewildered left-fielder Riley Greene before making its way into the Tigers’ bullpen, where pitcher Tyler Holton “about came unglued,” according to Dirks. The squirrel’s brief appearance on the field did not disrupt the flow of the game, as the Tigers went on to secure a 3-1 victory over the Giants. Benetti acknowledged the unusual occurrence, remarking, “People think sometimes we don’t stay on subject, but literally, first pitch, there’s a squirrel.” (UPI)
