Nebraska Man Goes Full Sith, Attacks Neighbor and Child with Lightsaber Over Thermostat Drama
A Nebraska man clearly took his Star Wars fandom a little too seriously. He’s now facing two felonies after allegedly using a metal lightsaber replica to attack his neighbor and her 7-year-old daughter during a heated dispute over, of all things, the thermostat.
Aidan White was arrested after authorities say he snapped over the news that his rent might go up, which he blamed on the neighbors keeping their heat cranked too high. Instead of writing a strongly worded letter to the landlord like most people, White whipped out a 3.5-foot “high-quality” lightsaber made of metal and thick plastic, and reportedly struck both victims with it.
Deputies described the saber as more than just a toy—it was capable of causing “significant pain and injury”, and was immediately seized as evidence from White’s apartment. He is now charged with felony child abuse and felony second-degree assault.
No word yet on whether he claimed Jedi mind control or the Dark Side made him do it, but the Force is not likely to be with him in court.
