Two hikers in the Czech Republic came across 589 gold coins minted between 1808 and the early 1900s. The total bounty is worth around $341,000. The pair came across the treasure while stomping around the Krkonoše Mountains in early February. In addition to the gold coins, they also found 16 tobacco bags, 10 bracelets, a comb, and a chain with a key. Miroslav Novák of the Museum of East Bohemia believes the loot was buried “in uncertain times with the intention of returning later for it.” (newser)
