Michigan School District To Parents: Maybe Wait To Spark Up Until AFTER Drop-Off?
A Michigan school district had to send out a very specific reminder to parents: Please stop hotboxing the parking lot during school drop-off and pick-up.
The Orchard View School District sent a letter to parents asking them to hold off on smoking marijuana while on school property — especially while sitting in their cars in the school parking lot.
Superintendent Jim Neilsen said while the district respects what people do in their personal time, lighting up in the middle of a school zone is not only inappropriate — it’s illegal.
He also reminded parents that Michigan state law prohibits:
-
Smoking marijuana inside a vehicle
-
Driving under the influence of marijuana
-
And having minors in a car where the driver might be impaired
The letter didn’t say exactly how many incidents led to the weed warning — but let’s just say… it was enough to warrant a district-wide memo.
